Johanne Defay Returns With a Vengeance, Defeats World Champions

Defay Triumphs Over Moore and Igarashi at Surf Ranch Pro

Johanne Defay, the former World Surf League (WSL) Champion from Reunion Island, has made a triumphant return to the top of the podium. In a thrilling battle at the Surf Ranch Pro, the 28-year-old surfer defeated the reigning four-time WSL Champion Carissa Moore of Hawaii by less than half a point.

Defay also managed to edge out the reigning Olympic Champion, Kanoa Igarashi of Japan, in a close race. Her victory marks her first WSL event win since the 2019 Vans US Open of Surfing.

Defay has always been a formidable competitor, known for her aggressive style and powerful forehand attack. Her victory at Surf Ranch Pro sends a clear message to the rest of the tour that she is back in top form and ready to challenge for the world title.

The Surf Ranch Pro was held in Lemoore, California, at the world's only artificial wave pool. The event brought together the world's top surfers, including Defay, Moore, Igarashi, and others. The competition was fierce, but in the end, it was Defay who emerged victorious.
