Democratic National Convention 2012

2012 Democratic National Convention

Democratic National Convention Transcript

Good evening, everybody. Thank you so much. Thank you, Charlotte. It is great to be back in North Carolina. And it is great to be back at the Democratic National Convention. (Cheers, applause)

Now, I know you've been hearing a lot these last few days about how this election is a choice between two different paths for America. And that's true. But I want to talk tonight about something else that's at stake in this election: the character of our country. (Applause)

First Lady Michelle Obama's Speech

Good evening, everyone. It is an honor to be here tonight. I am so proud to stand before you as the First Lady of the United States of America. (Applause)

I want to start by thanking the people of Charlotte for welcoming us to your beautiful city. And I want to thank all of you for being here tonight. Your presence here is a testament to the power of hope. (Applause)

Now, I know that many of you are still struggling. I know that many of you are still out of work. I know that many of you are still worried about the future. But I want you to know that I understand. I understand what you're going through. And I want you to know that we are fighting for you. (Applause)

Conclusion

In his acceptance speech, President Obama laid out a clear vision for the future of America. He spoke about the importance of investing in education, creating jobs, and protecting the middle class. He also spoke about the need to come together as a nation and to work together to build a better future for all Americans. Obama's speech was a powerful reminder of the values that have always defined our country: hope, optimism, and the belief that anything is possible if we work together.
