Haleakala Sunrise Parking

Haleakala National Park Now Requires Parking Reservations

Visitors to Haleakala National Park can now reserve parking for sunrise viewing at the summit online or by phone.

The park's popular sunrise viewing program has been impacted by increased visitation and limited parking.

Due to the popularity of sunrise viewing at the summit and limited parking, Haleakala National Park now requires parking reservations for vehicles entering the park between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. HST.

Parking reservations are self-guided, but guided Ranger tours are available. Reservations can be made online or by phone up to 60 days in advance. The cost is $1 per vehicle, plus a $10 non-refundable reservation fee.

Visitors without a parking reservation will not be allowed to enter the park between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. HST. The park entrance gate will be closed during these hours.

The park is open 24 hours a day, but the summit area is only accessible to vehicles with a parking reservation between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. HST. Visitors can still hike or bike to the summit outside of these hours.

For more information on parking reservations and sunrise viewing at Haleakala National Park, please visit the park's website or call the park information line at (808) 572-4400.

Conclusion:

The implementation of parking reservations at Haleakala National Park is a necessary step to protect the park's resources and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. We encourage visitors to plan ahead and make their parking reservations early to avoid disappointment.
